WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE CONTINUES –

hat trick scored by Fruta Conquerors FC’s player

24th September, 2016; Georgetown: Action in the Women’s Development League continues this weekend and into the new week in District One – Georgetown, and District Two – Berbice .

On Saturday, 24th September, District One began their journey with Fruta Conquerors FC coming up against Bartica FC at the Tucville Ground where Fruta Conquerors FC triumphed  by a 6 – 1 margin. Scorers for Fruta Conquerors FC were Shania Riley 11′, Nicola Leacock 26′, Lakeisha Pearson 36′ and a hat-trick from Collette Hope in the 23′, 45′ and 64′. The lone scorer for Bartica FC was Kerry Thomas 16′.

The next match for District One is scheduled for Wednesday, 28th September, 2016, 16:00hrs at GDF Ground, Camp Ayanganna with the GDF going against the Foxy Ladies.

Over at District Two, the matches will be held on Sunday, 25th September, 2016 at the Number 5 Ground. The first match at 15:00hrs will feature N.A United against Demerara Queens from Linden followed by West Side Conquerors against Kuru Kuru Warriors at 16:00hrs.

No match is scheduled for District Three this week due to the Heritage Month celebrations in Region 9.

The two-month league will realize the participation of thirteen (13) clubs drawn from three-geographically designated districts:

  1. District One– North East District comprising Georgetown, West Demerara, Essequibo and Bartica Regional Football Associations.
  2. District Two– North West District comprising Berbice, East Demerara, East Bank and the Upper Demerara Football Associations and
  3. District Three– Rupununi Regional Football Association

The Women’s Development League is designed to facilitate competitive women’s football participation, create public awareness of the sport and to expand the players’ pool.
