RUPUNUNI FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2017 UP AND RUNNING

9th March, 2017; Georgetown: The Rupununi Football Champions League 2017 kicked off in Lethem last weekend, with two men’s football and two women’s football matches.

Rupununi Football Association President Ken Grant and Guyana Football Federation Council member Rayan Farias launched the league on Saturday, wishing the teams well, and encouraging participants to abide by the competition rules and to strive for excellence.

In the first match, a Snatchers FC women’s team beat Gladiators FC women 2-0. The second match, Snatchers men’s team won 3–1 against Gladiators men’s team.

Tabatinga F.C. women’s team went down to the St. Ignatius Sports Club women’s team 6-0 and, in the final match, Tabatinga men defeated St. Ignatius men 3-1.

All matches will be played on every Saturday until 2nd July.

The next matches are scheduled for 11th March 2017 at Snatchers Ground, known as the Wadapna Centre ground, at 6 p.m.
