GFF EXPRESSES CONDOLENCE TO FORMER REFEREE AND ASSESSOR

12th January, 2018, Georgetown: The Guyana Football Federation (GFF), through the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC), has expressed condolence to the wife, children and friends of the late Phillip Gibbons, former National Referee and Assessor.

Gibbons, who was also actively involved in the administration of the Mackenzie Sports Complex (MSC), passed a few days ago.

In a brief statement, President of the GFRC and Council member of the GFF, Dion Inniss, said the fraternity is saddened by the loss of the former match official: “All referees mourn the loss of a very hard working, passionate and committed servant of the game. This is especially felt in the mining town of Linden where he resided up to the time of his passing. We hope that, in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness.

Gibbons will be laid to rest today
