1st July, 2016; Georgetown: President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has congratulated the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and the Slingerz FC for the just-concluded Stag Elite League saying it has helped “to spread the positive message of football.”
According to the letter dated 28th June, 2016, Infantino said, “this title is the result of the determination of everyone involved and my congratulations go to the players, the coach, the entire technical and medical staff, and the fans.”
Slingerz FC is Champion of Champions of the Stag Elite League Finale after defeating Alpha United FC 1 – 0 on Sunday, 26th June, 2016 at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora.
During the two-part league, Slingerz FC won the GENESIS league and Alpha United FC won the FINALE. Based on the rules of the tournament, a decider match was required to decide on an overall winner.
