CHANGE IN SCHEDULE (STAG ELITE LEAGUE FINALE) and GFF TECHNICAL DIRECTOR RESIGNS

9th March, 2016: Georgetown: Due to the Caribbean Football Union’s Caribbean Men’s Cup international meet between Guyana and Anguilla, scheduled for Tuesday, 22nd March, 2016, there has been a change to the fixture of the Stag Elite League Finale.

The games scheduled for Tuesday, March 22, have been rescheduled to Thursday, 24th March at the same time and venue. These are Fruta Conquerors FC vs GFC and Monedderlust FC vs GDF FC respectively. All other games have been rescheduled with the last preliminary rounds concluding on May 13, 2016.  This change has been agreed to by the clubs in question.

In an unrelated matter, Mr. Claude Bolton, Technical Director – Guyana Football Federation (GFF) – has resigned effective March 1, 2016. This was due to his being unable to fulfill the residency requirement of the job. Due to the nature of the job, the incumbent is required to be stationed in Guyana. Mr. Bolton has been in the employ of the Federation from January 10, 2015. The Technical Director was the key person responsible for planning, development and execution of the national football programme in Guyana.

He was employed under the Normalization Committee headed by Clinton Urling.

Among his notable achievements were the development of a structure to facilitate the implementation of coaches’ education and development via the Licensing programme, CONCACAF Club Licensing programme and his contributions to the resuscitation of the Elite League. He has also placed a significant emphasis on women’s and youth football and was instrumental to the development of the youth academy training centre and the identification and training of personnel/coaches to manage same. Additionally, Mr. Bolton managed the involvement of corporate sponsors in this initiative.

The Federation has commenced exploring the recruitment of a suitable candidate to fill the post.
