NATIONAL UNDER-17 TRIALS TO COMMENCE FOR CARIBBEAN FOOTBALL UNION’S (CFU) UNDER-17 TOURNAMENT – USVI TO HOST GUYANA

24th June, 2016; Georgetown: In preparation for the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Men’s Under-17 tournament in July 2016, 66 youths are scheduled to participate in a two-day National Under-17 trials scheduled for the Guyana Defence Force Ground, Camp Ayanganna on Saturday, 25th June, 2016.

The trials are scheduled to begin at 08:00hrs daily and will conclude at 17:00hrs (Saturday) and 13:00hrs (Sunday) respectively under the watchful eyes of designated Head Coach, Anthony Stephens.

The youths will be drawn from eight participating Member Associations with eight participants each except for six and four participants respectively from Bartica Football Association (BFA) and Essequibo Coast / Pomeroon Football Association (EC/PFA).

The national squad, which will consist of 26 players, will be finalized in the week following the trails and is scheduled to begin a one-and-half week encampment on 2nd July. The team is scheduled to depart Guyana for USVI on the 13th July, 2016.

Guyana has been placed in Group Four with USVI, Jamaica and Antigua and Barbuda and will play their first game against Jamaica on 15th July, 2016 at the Lionel Roberts Stadium, USVI at 14:30hrs. The second and third matches in the Round will be played on July 17 against USVI commencing at 17:00hrs and the 19th July against Antigua and Barbuda commencing at 14:30hrs – please see tournament fixtures attached. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on 25th September, 2016 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Other members of the technical squad include Carlos Bernard (Manager), Vurlon Mills (Assistant Coach), Andrew Hazel (Goal Keeper Coach) and Pablino Cupideo (Physiotherapist).

Facilitated interviews with players will be accommodated at the venue during the course of the trails.
