GFF’S RESPONSE TO NEWSPAPER ARTICLES

NEW GFF FOOTBALL LOGO-01

31st March, 2016; Georgetown: The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) wishes to state the following in response to two articles published in two daily publications on the 31st March, 2016 as follows:

Match Day Stipends an Internal Issue (Stabroek News, p.22) – These will be paid at the earliest. There were some unavoidable delays in the processing of the fees due the unusually high demand experienced by the GFF’s Finance Department as a result of the international engagements.

Former National Footballer Questions GFF President on Halting of Financial Support (Kaiteur News, p.28) – The Council believes strongly that public assistance is a policy decision that must involve the participation of the twenty-two members. This matter will be presented at the scheduled Congress in May 2016 for deliberation. It is our view that these facilities must be guided by a well-defined criteria and be accessible to everyone that qualifies. Though we recognize the value of the support to the recent recipients and regret the inconvenience caused, we feel strongly that the process should be transparent and fair to all in need of help.
