GFF’S RESPONSE TO INACCURATE NEWSROOM STORY

NEW GFF FOOTBALL LOGO-01PRESS RELEASE

27th March, 2016; Georgetown: The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) wishes to categorically refute the content of the news story carried by the NEWSROOM on May 25 at 13:49hrs re: “Wayne Forde, President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), today confirmed that Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson will no longer feature for the country’s National team in the CFU Caribbean Cup, after being banned provisionally….”

Apart from the fact that the President never issued those words directly or indirectly to the news agency in question, the President does not have the authority to pronounce on disciplinary issues engaging the attention of the Federation.

As indicated in a previous press release dated 23rd May, 2016, following Pele’s abandonment of the Match 52 of the Stag Elite League, the Council of the GFF, not the President, had imposed a provisional ban of the team and the imposition of a $200,000 fine on the club.

The incident, as occurred, has been forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee for their review and pronouncement.

Following this, the media will be informed of the ruling.
