GFF WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE TO COMMENCE THIS WEEKEND

16th September, 2016; Georgetown: The Women’s Development League under the aegis of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and the National Association For Women’s Football (NAWF) will commence on Saturday, 17th September, 2016.

The two of three districts which will begin this weekend – District Two and Three – will see Kwakwani Strikers vs N.A Warriors at 16:00hrs and Demerara Queens vs. Kuru Kuru Warriors at 17:00hrs in Linden. At St. Ignatius Village, Region 9, St. Ignatius FC will match up against Shulinab FC and Snatchers FC will play Paiwomak FC beginning at 17:30hrs.

Districts One is scheduled to begin their League participation on the 24th September, 2016 due, in part, to logistical challenges being experienced.

The two-month league will realize the participation of thirteen (13) clubs drawn from three-geographically designated districts:

  1. District One – North East District comprising Georgetown, West Demerara, Essequibo and Bartica Regional Football Associations.
  2. District Two – North West District comprising Berbice, East Demerara, East Bank and the Upper Demerara Football Associations and
  3. District Three – Rupununi Regional Football Association

The Women’s Development League is designed to facilitate competitive women’s football participation, create public awareness of the sport and to expand the players’ pool.

Admission to all games is free.
