GFF PRESENTS FOOTBALLS TO UPPER DEMERARA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
25th July, 2017; Georgetown: The Guyana Football Federation (GFF), on Monday, 24th July, presented footballs to the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) to aid the work of the Association.
The presentation was made by GFF’s President Wayne Forde to Claude Williams, First Vice President of the UDFA and was done in the Boardroom of the GFF.
Forde said the GFF’s Council is pleased by the work of the newly-appointed President of the Upper Demerara Football Association and its Council to have football played in the Linden community and thus eager to support their efforts: “By this simple donation, we hope to get the U15 league up and running. We are very impressed with the work and the level of activity that we see in the GFF-NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National U17 league and we wish to commend the UDFA for the Inter-Association Super Cup tournament. We are very proud of what is happening in Linden and hope the other associations will see Linden as an example and will finally place some emphasis on having football played in their jurisdiction.”
In response, Williams expressed gratitude for the donation and said that the balls will, in part, be used for the Association’s “summer” programme: “This is a timely donation as we are strapped for balls. These balls will be used for games and practice sessions with the younger guys and for the “summer” camp. The Association’s “summer” camp will start from the 6th August and will run for one week. We expect at least a 150 youngsters on a given day and will use the event to impart life skills such as the importance of hygiene, discipline among others.”
It is the mandate of the Council to provide technical and other support to the various Regional Member Associations (RMAs) in the execution of their programmes.
