1-Mar-16 – First Vice-President, Brigadier Bruce Lovell (Rtd.), Council Member, Mr. Dion Inniss, General Secretary, Diedre Davis and some Members of Staff of the Secretariat attended a meeting with Digicel’s representatives to discuss the 2016 Digicel School’s Football Tournament.

The GFF is exploring a long-term arrangement with Digicel in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in support of school football in Guyana.

5-Mar-16 – Third Statutory Council Meeting was held at the GFF Secretariat; a quorum was achieved. Key decisions coming out of this meeting were the financial support given to Regional Member Associations, Ground Enhancement Initiative to be supported by the Council, a date being identified for the GFF Congress and the inclusion of Member Associations’ concerns to the agenda of future Council Meetings.

The Ground Enhancement initiative seeks to enable the development of one ground in each Regional Member Association’s jurisdiction; this ground will be identified by the respective members associations.

10-Mar-16 – FIFA sent an invitation for the General Secretary, Ms. Diedre Davis to attend Transfer Matching System Training in Costa Rica scheduled for 8&9th June, 2016.

11-Mar-16 – Meeting was held with Third Vice-President of the GFF, Ms. Thandi Mc Allister and President of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA), Mr. Franklin Wilson, to discuss matters related to the execution of tournaments within the EBFA.

12-Mar-16 – As part of the lead-up to the Caribbean Football Union 2016 Scotia Bank Men’s Caribbean Cup Tournament (Guyana vs Anguilla) scheduled for 22nd March, 2016, a ‘Meet and Greet’ was held at the City Mall, Georgetown.  Fans were given a chance to interact with members of the Golden Jaguars, win t-shirts, tickets and take a photo with their favourite player/s.

14-Mar-16 –Youth Ticket was launched at the Sophia Special School. This ticket will see children 17 years and below paying five hundred dollars ($500.00) for entrance in the scheduled CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup on 22nd March, 2016 and half the price of the entrance fee for tournaments where the entrance fee is above one thousand dollars ($1,000.00).

As part of the launch, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) donated footballs and 25 tickets to the Head-teacher of the Sophia Special School, Ms. Debra Bilalatu. The Ministry of Education also donated tickets to representatives of the schools which are at the knock-out stage of the Milo Schools’ Under-20 tournament.

16-Mar-16 – A meeting was held with President, Mr. Wayne Forde and Minister within the Ministry of Education – Department of Sport, Ms. Nicolette Henry, to discuss matters relating to the Guyana Football Federation’s participation in Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

18-Mar-16 – Guyana’s nominee, Ms. Althea Scipio, has been selected to undergo FIFA’s Female Security Officers’ training that is scheduled to be conducted later this year. Ms. Scipio, Secretary of the Georgetown Football Association, was nominated by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).

This initiative is as a result of a concerted effort by FIFA to increase the number of female security officers and it is the first time Guyana has nominated a female representative to the FIFA Security Officer programme.

Ms. Scipio, an Assistant Superintendent of the Guyana Police Force, has over seven years’ experience in the security field, serving as Officer-In-Charge of major sporting and other international and national activities including football and cricket. She has also served in the capacity of Community Relations Officer, Media Relations Officer, Officer in charge of ‘A’ Division Secretariat, and Officer in Charge of ‘A’ Division Management Information Unit (Crime Analyst).

19-Mar-16 – Pre-Game Press Conference for the Guyana vs. Anguilla game (Scotia Bank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Championship) – scheduled for 22nd March, 2016 – was held at 704 Sports Bar at noon.

Present at the press conference were Head Coach of the Golden Jaguars, Jamaal Shabazz who introduced his party and a new paradigm to the management of the team – co-coach and co-captain, which is Mr. Wayne Dover, formerly known as the Assistant Coach and the two captains – Christopher Nurse and Gregory Richardson respectively.

Also present at the press conference were the Anguillan team including Team Manager, Nigel Linton; Head Coach, Leon Jeffers and Captain Kevin Hawley.

22-Mar-16 – The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) received four video cameras and one tripod from over-seas based Anthony Whyte and Paul Beresford. These cameras will be used to increase capacity of the GFF to document games and other events as well as enable the Public Relations programmes of the GFF (production/dissemination).

22-Mar-16 – Game Day: Guyana defeats Anguilla 7-0 at the Providence National Stadium

25-Mar-16 – Guyana Senior Men’s National Team departed for Puerto Rico where they competed against Puerto Rico as they look to advance to the next round of the Scotia Bank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Tournament. The team consisted of 18 payers and seven (7) technical staff.

29-Mar-16 – President Wayne Forde departed for the Dominican Republic to attend a meeting with CFU Presidents to discuss matters relating to the progress of the CFU Region.

29-Mar-16 – Game Day: Guyana defeats Puerto Rico 1-0 at the Juan Ramón Loubriel stadium, Bayamón, Puerto Rico to advance to the next round of the Scotia Bank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Championship.  The lone scorer: King Solomon Austin 64′
