ACTIVITY REPORT FOR JANUARY, 2016

5-Jan-16ABSAA Representatives Meet GFF

  • A meeting with representatives of the Alex Bunbury Sports and Academic Academy (ABSAA) was held to discuss details of the upcoming visit to Guyana by Mr. Bunbury. This meeting was held at the GFF Boardroom. Present at the meeting were GFF President, Mr. Wayne Forde; General Secretary, Ms. Diedre Davis and from ABSAA, Junior Forrester and Charmin Wade.

Among the key discussion point was the division of agency responsibility of those involved in the hosting of Alex Bunbury.  Among the areas the GFF assisted in were the logistics and contribution of balls and bibs to enable the execution of the youth clinics.

  • Second meeting of the Stag Elite League Review Committee Meeting was held at the GFF Secretariat. Among the discussion points were tournament structure, rules, venues, club uniforms and league advertising and promotion.

6-Jan-16 –Johannes Van Krimpen from Green Fields met with the GFF to discuss the tender process and requirements for the Providence Goal Project. GFF facilitated a site inspection of the proposed site and a meeting with the local architect, Marcel Gaskin of Marcel Gaskin and Associates Ltd.

7-Jan-16

  • A meeting was held with Ms. Deborah Yan of Republic Bank and was attended by Mr. Wayne Forde and Director of Finance, Mr. Kareem Jones. Key discussion points included the Federation’s financial position and the possibility of attaining better exchange rates was explored.
  • First meeting of the Tournament Regulation Committee was held at GFF’s Boardroom and was called to discuss the framework needed to successfully execute tournaments.

In attendance were GFF’s Competition Director, Ian Alves and Deputy General Secretary, Merson Jones. Also in attendance were President of the National Association for Women’s Football (NAWF), Charmaine Wade; Secretary of Fruta Conquerors FC, Daniel Thomas, GFA’s Representative, Otis James; Troy Mendonca (Promoter), Lennox Arthur (Promoter) and a representative from the Kashif and Shanghai Organization, Collin Aaron.

8-Jan-16 – Representatives of the Guyana Football Federation met with Director of Sport, Christopher Jones, to discuss the Federation’s plans for Guyana’s 50th Independence anniversary. The meeting was attended by Competition Director, Mr. Ian Alves and General Secretary, Ms. Diedre Davis.

Among the key agreements of the meeting was the confirmation of the schedule for the International Friendly to be hosted in May, 2016 as part of the Calendar of Events for Guyana’s 50th Anniversary.

8-Jan-16 – In an effort to enable transparency and accountability at the GFF’s tournaments, a meeting was held with the Lions Club of Georgetown. This meeting was chaired by GFF’s President, Wayne Forde and addressed safeguarding the integrity of the gate.

This meeting was held at the GFF’s Boardroom and representatives of the Lions Clubs including its President, Matthew Langevine.

 

9th Jan-16 – Second Statutory Council Meeting was held at the GFF Boardroom. During this meeting, the Executives were briefed by Coach Jamall Shabazz regarding his plans for the upcoming International Friendly and CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Championship. The Technical Director also briefed the Executives regarding the implementation of his “Next Generation” Plan.

The Council appointed Ms. Carmel Williams from the Bartica Football Association (BFA) to fill the vacant Council position until the Next Ordinary General Congress.

At this Meeting, the Council agreed to support the nomination of Mr. Mark Rodrigues for the position of President at the upcoming CONCACAF Elections to be held in May, 2016.

11-Jan-16 – President of the GFF, Wayne Forde, First Vice President Bruce Lovell and General Secretary Diedre Davis met with Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates, Reem Al Hashimy, to discuss a mutually-beneficial partnership.

This meeting was held at the Mariott Hotel and among the key discussion points were a plan to assist women’s football development in Guyana and the possibility of having a few of Guyana’s top players attend a World Soccer Forum in Dubai, organized by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

11-Jan-16 – Mr. Alex Bunbury, retired International Football player and Canadian Hall of Famer paid a courtesy call on Mr. Wayne Forde, GFF President, Mr. Bruce Lovell – First Vice President and Ms. Diedre Davis – General Secretary.

Mr. Bunbury is on tour Guyana and will conduct youth clinics in four parts of Guyana including Plaisance, his home-town.

15-Jan-16 – Three-day Futsal Encampment began and featured ten (10)members of the National Futsol Team. This camp was held in preparation of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Futsol Qualifier Tournament in Cuba.

15-Jan-16 – The GFF President and First Vice President departed for Antigua & Barbuda for CFU’s General Meeting and Men’s Caribbean Cup Championships.

19-Jan-16 – Team left for Futsal Cuba to participate in the CFU Futsal Qualifier Tournament. Guyana was placed in Group 1 and will play against Antigua & Barbuda, Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago.

Results are as follows Curacao 5-2 Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago 4-3 Guyana and Antigua & Barmuda 2-3 Guyana.

27th – 29th Jan – Mr. Alves, Director of Competitions & Mr. Claude Bolton Technical Director attended FIFA Club Licensing Seminar in Panama.

30th January, 2016 – First quarter Referee’s Fitness Test was held at Track and Field Facility, Leonora. This event began at 05:30hrs and thirty-five referees participated; six females and twenty-nine males. Of that number, 24 passed and five failed.
