David Lawrence joins ‘Lady Jags’ camp as strength and condition coach

The Guyana Football Federation is thankful to Mr. David Lawrence, Head Strength Coach of Michigan Elite Conditioning for Athletes (MECA) and Concordia University – Ann Arbor (CUAA), has agreed to work pro bono as the Conditioning Coach of the Guyana Women’s Senior National Team (the Lady Jags) as of August 1st 2015.

Coach Lawrence is responsible for the physical preparation and development of the team for the duration of its Olympic Qualifying tenure.

Since the Lady Jags departure from their camp in Guyana July 18-26, Coach Lawrence has provided them with a stringent fitness program that requires all players to follow at their respective locations and electronically report weekly on their progress.

This significantly helps the coaching staff to monitor and assess the fitness progress of the players between the camp and the first round games, which will assist in coaching decisions regarding starting line-ups and substitutions.

He has trained hundreds of athletes in multiple disciplines; some of his clients include players in the National Football League such as Nick Bellore and Frank Zombo and National Hockey League, in Aaron Palushaj.

At Concordia University, Coach Lawrence oversees the training of more than 300 athletes in 18 different sports and brings a vast amount of experience in getting the Lady Jags fit for their upcoming competition in the Dominican Republic.

Over the past year at Concordia, Coach Lawrence has worked directly with CUAA’s women’s soccer team and helped them reach an all time level of fitness.  They are expected to compete on the national level for NAIA.
